The region contains a rich diversity of terrain and wildlife, from the lush rainforests which clad the volcanic mountains in western Uganda, home of the magnificent mountain gorillas, the sparkling double chain of lakes in central Kenya which, enriched by minerals, throng with millions of flamingoes, to the vast Serengeti plains in Tanzania teeming with wildlife.
